Long Overdue

A new road sign was recently added under the Holland High School direction sign on westbound 32nd Street near Van Raalte Avenue (next to Jefferson K-7 school). The sign, placed up by the City of Holland Street Department, honors the high school theatre department, stating "Home of Holland High School State Theatre Champions".

Earlier this year, the theatre team won 2 MIFA Division 1 state competitive theatre championships for their productions of "Triumph of Love" and "Agnes of God". This marked the school's 20th state championship in the last 28 years.

Congratulations to Kevin Schneider and the theatre students of the last 3 decades on this "long overdue" recognition!

"Bald" for Bucks $$$

Six compassionate students at East K-7 (including a girl!) recently made a gigantic sacrifice by having their heads shaved in front of their cheering classmates during the school's "Bald for Bucks" fundraiser event on June 1.

"This was a great opportunity for students to give back to others and sacrifice a little bit in the process while learning what it means to be part of a community," said Principal Nick Cassidy.

About $400 was raised in pledges. The money will benefit families at East who are in need of a little extra help for groceries at this time.
